A new UK survey places Royal Mail’s 9am and lunchtime delivery services as the most punctual andcheapest among a survey of the five top express companies in the country.
Royal Mail came ahead of Business Post, DHL, City Link and TNT for consistently deliveringpackages on time and at low cost on test routes organised by Research International.
Its Special Delivery 9am service cost an average of GBP 9.46, compared to the GBP 40.57charged by the dearest competitor TNT, Research International found.
Royal Mail’s Special Delivery service was also cheapest among rivals for guaranteed next daydelivery by lunchtime, averaging GBP 5.05, nearly GBP 23 less than its highest priced competitor.

The test routes were selected to provide consistent transit times, as accepted by the EU,Postcomm and the UK trade ministry.
Test items were prepared centrally and reflected the most common business items sent bypackage type, size and weight, Royal Mail said in a statement. A total of 2,479 test items weresent.
