British overnight delivery company Nightfreight has announced plans to invest more than £2 million(EUR 2.95 million) on new vehicles, new track and trace technology and enlarged sites to set
it up for further growth.The management-owned company, which specialises in the niche market of outsize and irregularshipments, will update its fleet by taking delivery of more than 200 new vehicles in the next 12months, including a range of 7.5 tonne, 18 tonne and articulated vehicles. Satellite navigationsystems will be fitted to all vehicles.
It will roll out track and trace technology to all sites this year, building on theinfrastructure that was put in place last summer.
Nightfreight is also undertaking a relocation programme across a number of its sites toincrease its capacity and improve on existing standards. Its site at Swanscombe has relocated to anew depot in Dartford whilst its site at Welwyn Garden City has relocated to Hoddesdon. Both newfacilities are significantly larger and boast improved dock space with state of the art facilitiesfor the vehicles. In addition there is a planned move from the company’s site in Middlewich to anew site in Crewe. Other relocations are planned for later in the year.

The operator’s customers range from small independent industrial companies to major blue chipbusinesses and include B&Q, John Lewis, IKEA, Office Depot, BT Rolatruc, Plumbcentre and Oxfam.
