UPS

UPS has upgraded its WorldShip, Quantum View and Billing Solutions software suites to improve thepreparation, management and tracking of a wide range of international and domestic parcel and

freight shipments.

The carrier said the enhancements would save customers time and money by streamlining tradeoperations, making them simpler and easier to manage across the globe.

“Our customers, large and small, conduct business in an increasingly global economy that isdriven by technology,” said Kurt Kuehn, UPS senior vice-president, worldwide sales and marketing.

“By further improving an already robust suite of technology, we have made it easier for ourcustomers to manage and expand their shipping operations around the world.”

UPS has rolled out a new version of WorldShip – WorldShip 9.0, now available in 14 languages– which prepares shipping labels, create bills of lading and determines who pays shipping chargesand international duties and taxes.

More than 550,000 customers worldwide have so far installed WorldShip, making it one of themost widely deployed transportation software applications in the world, said UPS.

The new Quantum View Manage application, used with WorldShip to keep customers notified ofwhere shipments are in the supply chain, now tracks small packages as well as air, ocean and groundfreight, and enables customers to access 45 days of small package data and 120 days of historicalfreight data, including bills of lading and delivery receipt documents.

UPS has also expanded its Billing Solutions portfolio to include an electronic freightinvoice and provide customers with detailed financial information for better cost management.

The upgrades mainly reflect the integration of Overnite Corp., the less-than-truckloadcarrier UPS bought in 2005 and which has expanded the company’s transportation solutions to includethe full suite of freight services.
