TNT Express has opened a major S$8 million (EUR 3.9 million) Life Science Express Hub in Singaporeto step up its focus on the fast-growing sector in Asia. Singapore aims to establish itself as the
regional base for the life sciences industry.The new facility, at Changi South, is expected to handle over US$100 million worth of medicalequipment every year. Fitted with the latest in cold chain management technology to safelytransport and store goods, the 65,500 sq ft facility serves as a regional logistics centre forTNT’s multinational customers in the life sciences industry. Their products are consolidated inSingapore before being delivered across Asia.
Onno Boots, Regional Managing Director, TNT, South East Asia, said: “The main benefit to thecustomers really is the effect to eliminate local warehouses all throughout the Asian countries andcentralise that in Singapore and then connect that with TNT’s distribution network to any majorcity in Asia within 24 hours.”
