DHL has launched two new services across the US-Mexico border to make shipping more convenient andquicker.
Its one-day Break Bulk Express (BBX) delivery brings together packages from multiplecustomers into a single bundled consignment for customs clearance from Mexico into the US, cuttingdown transit times, tracking and reducing costs.
The new northbound operation is part of DHL’s recently- announced North America Trade Laneinitiative, a five-year, $100-million investment in infrastructure and services in North America.
DHL says the market for BBX-type services in North America is currently about $375 million ayear, with air shipments representing 30 % of the total.
Northbound shipments from Mexico include, in rank order: automotive parts, high-techproducts, consumer electronic goods, and agricultural goods such as flowers, fruits and vegetables,the carrier added.
DHL has also launched a next-day guaranteed service from Mexico to the United States, withdelivery before 10h30, for documents or goods weighing 70kg or less and measuring within 118 x 88 x120cm that do not need to go through US Customs.
