FedEx expands express freight service

FedEx Express is increasing the reach of its urgent freight network to cover more than 130countries, and is also adding widespread time-definite, door-to-door delivery services in US rural

areas, in a bid to significantly expand the business.

The company has launched FedEx International Priority Freight in an additional 64 markets inEurope, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean since August 2006. The service isnow offered in more than 130 countries and FedEx claims it now connects “98% of the world’s GDP inone to three business days”.

“With these enhancements to FedEx International Priority Freight, FedEx continues to open theworld to our customers—from small business owners to multinational companies,” said RajeshSubramaniam, senior vice-president of international marketing for FedEx Express.

In the USA, FedEx Express Freight shipments will now carry a time-definite, door-to-doordelivery commitment in most rural areas. “With this change, more than 90% of U.S. zip codes arecovered by FedEx Express with door-to-door freight service backed by a money-back guarantee,” thecompany said.

FedEx Express Freight is a time-definite, premium air freight service for domestic andinternational palletized shipments weighing more than 150lbs (68kg). It is also available forshipments exceeding normal size restrictions.
