TNT

TNT Express has improved shipment tracking in the Middle East by expanding new courier feedbacksystems to Kuwait and Bahrain – and they will also be deployed in Saudi Arabia later in the year.

The company’s “mobile worker units” enable high-speed wireless communication of largequantities of data between depots and their drivers, said TNT.

Drivers in Kuwait and Bahrain have been equipped with handheld scanners allowing them to sendand receive delivery information in real-time in a new unified system aiming to improve the speedand efficiency of delivery operations.

“‘Mobile worker’ consolidates seven different communication systems into one unified andmulti-functional solution  and enables customers across the world to track their shipments inless than five minutes of pick-up or delivery. This is particularly useful for those operatingtime-critical businesses,” said Richard Clayton, TNT Express’ manager for Kuwait.

“By implementing a ‘single system’ solution, TNT can deploy this technology across itsnetwork without the need to install and maintain a server infrastructure in each country. This willhelp create savings of up to 70%,” he added.

The units were launched in the United Arab Emirates last year and the company said it wouldalso introduce the hand-held scanners in Saudi Arabia by the year-end.
