Troubled waters at UPS France

UPS workers in France are due to strike tomorrow over 700 jobs they say are threatened in itssupply chain subsidiary in the country.



Five trade unions – CGT, CFDT, FO, CGC and CFTC – have together given the required legalwarning of the strike at UPS SCS (Supply Chain Solutions) for Thursday, 22 February, which theyhope will also be followed by employees of the parent group.

Under a management reorganisation at UPS SCS – which transports heavier items such as officeequipment and vending machines – unions say the carrier intends to close down the Frenchsubsidiary, axing all delivery and maintenance staff.

Lyon newspaper Le Progrès said staff at the UPS logistics hub in the city, where 40 supplychain staff work, were preparing to join the nationwide strike.
