DHL Express wins German fashion firm contract

DHL Express Germany has taken on full distribution for fashion company Delmod after a successfultest against the firm’s three previous express services providers.



The Deutsche Post subsidiary expects to carry some 30,000 shipments a year for the fashionfirm, which specialises in women’s clothing. Alongside Germany, Delmod sells products in Austria,Benelux and the UK, while China and Turkey are its main supply markets. Standard shipments will becarried via DHL’s domestic and international day definite services, samples will be transported viatime definite services, and DHL will also handle document and import items.

DHL Express said that it had gained the contract after several weeks of tests competingagainst the three firms that had previously provided distribution for the fashion company.

“Delmod needed a distribution partner that could cover its different distribution needs,”said DHL Express sales manager Benno Mertens. “This affected all aspects of the supply chain, fromprocurement to distribution and customer service.” In particular, DHL scored well for its deliveryquality, IT system and regional customer service, he pointed out.
