TNT is planning to grow its network in the UK in the first half of 2007 with additional facilitiesacross the country. The expansion programme builds on new infrastructure put into service during
2006. The level of investment was not announced.TNT Express Services said that it will open new and upgraded depots in South Wales andNorthern Ireland during this year. The company is also seeking to establish an even strongerfoothold around London Heathrow Airport and will upgrade its operational capabilities in Shannon,Ireland and North East England.
Under its 18-month investment programme, TNT Express Services already opened several newfacilities during 2006, including a National Customer Contact Centre, three new depots, a fashionclothing distribution centre and a state-of-the-art archiving facility, creating in excess of 700new jobs.
TNT created 240 new jobs with the opening of a state-of-the-art customer help centre at TeamValley, near Gateshead, in north-east England. New depots in the North West of England andScotland, namely Preston, Glasgow and Liverpool are, and will be, providing an additional 300 newroles, the company said.
In addition, TNT opened a new and extended 700,000 sq ft clothing distribution warehouse inthe Midlands as part of a long-term agreement with high street clothing retailer, Primark,Leicestershire. The centre is expected to create up to 250 new jobs.

Our policy of identifying and capitalising on everyopportunity to improve our already comprehensive network of depots and strategic sites willcontinue to give us a vital competitive edge.”
The renewed and sustained focus will benefit tens of thousands of businesses as a result ofTNT being able to offer later collection and earlier delivery times, he added.
