DHL has conducted a Japanese survey that shows its time-definite delivery services have doubled inNagoya. The carrier’s import express service has grown by 30% and TDD services by 110%, leading to
the company launching a midday parcel and document service available from 4 January on the centralHonshu island.High-tech, car parts, textiles and clothing dominate the door-to-door business between Japan,16 other Asia Pacific countries and 22 in Europe.
“With Import Midday Express, customers will continue to enjoy the privileges of ImportExpress, plus the additional benefits of TDD, which guarantees delivery by noon the next day or bynoon on the second day,” DHL Japan said in a statement.
The company has established 16 service centres in Japan, mainly in the Tokai and Hokurikuregions, since 2005 and inaugurated in March the Chubu Gateway, DHL’s dedicated bonded warehouseoffering customs clearance processing and bonded warehouse facilities.
It is investing more than EUR 100 million in Asia Pacific next year to extend its regionalleadership. The operator is also looking into developing a road network in South-East Asia and aimsto increase revenues in the region by 15-18% next year.
