DHL Japan’s Chubu Gateway facility, which handles millions of chips and electronic components forthe car and PC industries, has been awarded the highest TAPA certification rating – ‘A’ – for its
handling of the hi-tech consignments.Chubu Gateway, which opened in March this year at Central Japan International Airport(Centrair) at Nagoya, is one of over 100 DHL facilities in Asia Pacific to receive TAPAcertification and the sixth in Japan, following the Tokyo Distribution Center, Kansai InternationalAirport Gateway, Yokohama Service Center, Fuchu Service Center and Kumamoto Service Center.
“TAPA certification for the Chubu Gateway, our core facility in central Japan, demonstratesour commitment to offering top-quality services for customers in this area and beyond,” saidGuenter Zorn, president of DHL Express Japan.
“We would like to create an environment for our customers where they can concentrate on theirbusinesses and not have to worry about the security of their shipments along the supply chain.”
TAPA, the Technology Asset Protection Association, which was started in the US in 1997 andlater extended to Europe and Asia, certifies freight facilities that meet its stringent securitystandards for the handling of high-value technology goods, following inspections by accreditedauditors.
The association awards A, B or C ratings, according to security levels at facilities andregular audits are conducted afterwards to check standards continue to be met post-certification.
