UK Mail has won an award recognising it as the top rival to Britain’s national postal operator,Royal Mail.
The Business Post division won the Downstream Access Supplier of the Year Award, sponsored byRoyal Mail, at the 2006 Mail Awards for, according to the judges, “reliability, operationaleffectiveness, customer service and health and safety”.
“The award officially cements the business’s reputation as the leading alternative to RoyalMail,” said UK Mail managing director Steve Patrick.
UK Mail is thriving in Britain’s deregulated market and recently processed its one billionthitem.The fast-growing company is Business Post’s second biggest earner after parcels. It doubledrevenues to GBP 37 million in the first half of this year.
It has also been expanding unsorted mail services over the past nine months with hi-tech newsorting centres in Runcorn, Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Greenford, Swindon and Croydon.
