Eurodis, the European distribution network run by German express group trans-o-flex, haschanged its UK and Ireland partner. Trans-o-flex is meanwhile reportedly also interested in
acquiring ABX Belgium Distribution which is up for sale.Tuffnells Parcels Express has been the exclusive Eurodis delivery partner for the UK andIreland since the beginning of November, replacing the previous partner Business Post. Trans-o-flexsaid that it decided to make the switch after a successful test phase. Tuffnells, founded in 1914,has 1,700 employees and delivers approx. 16 million shipments annually with 600 vehicles.
“Tuffnells are an excellent match for us with their great flexibility and range of services.Apart from parcels and pallets, they also carry time-definite and chilled goods and handle pick-uporders and partial deliveries. With Tuffnells as our partner, we can offer our customer-tailoredsolutions in the UK and Ireland in an ideal way,” said trans-o-flex CEO Klaus J. Heinz.
Meanwhile, Belgian newspaper Der Standaard has reported that trans-o-flex wanted to re-jointhe race to buy ABX Belgium Distribution, alongside TNT and GLS. trans-o-flex planned to increaseits original bid for the Belgian courier, parcels and road distribution company, the newspaperwrote. GLS had apparently made the highest offer to date.
Belgian Railways (NMBS/SNCB) has to sell ABX Belgium Distribution, which describes itself asthe leading domestic parcels and pallets distribution company in Belgium with revenues of about EUR90 million, by December 7, 2006. This deadline was a condition of EU approval in December 2005 forpast state restructuring aid via the railway to the ABX group of companies.
