DHL is moving its global forwarding operation on to a new site, twice the size of the previousfacility, near Charlotte International Airport, North Carolina, in order to meet growing demand for
both air and ocean consignments. The 52,000 sq ft complex of warehouses and offices also integrates operations by Danzas andExel which had separate locations at Charlotte.
DHL said the 38,000 sqft of warehouse space – more than twice the capacity of the previousbuilding – would allow DHL Global Forwarding to manage more warehousing services in-house,especially for small to medium-sized companies. Open for business on 4 December, the new facilitywill also house air and ocean freight forwarding and customs brokerage.
“We continue to experience accelerating demand for our Charlotte-based services as theCarolinas take on increased prominence in the country’s international trade and transport system,”said Dominique von Orelli, district manager with the company.
“Our new facility, with dramatically increased warehouse and office space, will provide uswith the resources needed to stay ahead of our customers’ ever-expanding logistics needs.”
The relocation marks DHL Global Forwarding’s second expansion in the Carolinas in the pastfour months. In August, the company announced it was expanding operations in Charleston.
