DHL Express has opened a EUR 10.6 million distribution centre at Loiu airport in Bilbao, Spain,which the company says will ramp up its Iberian operations.
The state-of-the-art facility can handle 4,000 parcels an hour and takes up 18,000 sqm,including 100 docking points.
“DHL can give its clients the best possible attention but the constant increase in activityand operational growth have meant we must build new facilities. The former centre at Etxebarri wasnot big enough,” said Felipe Corcuera, director general DHL Express Iberia.
Thirty-eight of the loading bays, filling nearly 6,000 sqm, are aimed at dedicated lorriesand in addition there are over 60 shared loads being filled from a loading space of over 5,000metres. There are more than 1,000 sqm for office space on the site.
