DHL Express expands in northern India

DHL Express has extended its network in northern India with the opening of a state-of-the artservice centre in Gurgaon, in the state of Haryana (south of New Delhi). The facility will target a

growing client base and increased regional demand for international shipments.

The 23,000 sq ft world-class facility will manage close to 1,000 daily shipments (over 3000kgs of material) – both inbound and outbound – and cuts across 25 routes in North India, DHL said.Located at Udyog Vihar, Phase II in Gurgaon, the Service Centre is strategically based close to theairport and will cater to DHL’s business in North India and specifically to the growing markets ofGurgaon and Manessar.

DHL India said that the facility will provide customised logistics solutions to keyindustries like automobiles, garments and the software industries. International Air Express fromthe region has grown at 45 % and from Delhi alone it is 31%.

The main objective of DHL is to provide faster and more efficient service with the ability tohandle extra inbound and outbound shipments. As Gurgaon is one of India’s major corporate andindustrial hubs that houses many of DHL’s high profile customers, the new service centre isdesigned to improve customer service.

We are ready to meetthe challenges of increased trade and business activity in India.”

The DHL Gurgaon Service Centre will be an important check point for all inbound and outboundshipments. It has state-of-the-art technology including all round CCTV monitoring for enhancedsafety and security, Weight Dimension Label machine for accurate weighing, Radio Frequency Scanner,powered Conveyor Belt, Power Stacker to handle heavy loads, Piece ID to identify and track multipleshipments, NGS scanner for data transfer and Access Controlled Movement, among others.
