Jetpak buys Finnish road transport firm

Nordic express company Jetpak has acquired the Finnish ground transportation firm Lähettipirkka Oyto extend its regional network and give it new opportunities in the road express sector. Jetpak,

the former SAS express unit that is now owned by financial investors, expanded in Norway earlierthis year with the takeover of Borg-Trans.

Lähettipirkka, founded in 1978, will be merged into Jetpak Finland, a new subsidiary thatstarted operations in August this year. Jetpak Finland, which has taken over the former courierbusiness of Finnair Cargo, will have turnover of 110 million SEK in 2007, including the 65 millionSEK originating from Lähettipirkka.

“Lähettipirkka has an excellent reputation and is a prosperous company with a high degree ofdelivery precision. The acquirement puts Jetpak in a unique position – no one else can supply localpresence together with the fastest door to door services including Finland,” said Jetpak Groupmanaging director Eric Lautmann.

“Jetpak has really appreciated our personnel and their skill and it’s quite vital, now whenwe will create an even stronger Jetpak here in Finland. Our presence in southern Finland – where wehave about 75 % of the entire business – together with Jetpak’s service concept will create anunbeatable combination,” added Jorma Majuri, managing director of Lähettipirkka Oy.

Jetpak provides express delivery throughout the Nordic region using commercial uplift for airtransportation and through its network of more than 140 locations and 700 delivery vans.
