DHL France faces strike threat

Unions at DHL Express in France are calling for industrial action in protest at what they claim areplanned job cuts among the 8,500 staff. The three unions CFDT, CGT and CFTC want DHL Express

employees to take a day of action on Tuesday, October 17.

In a joint letter published in French media they said they feared a new wave of restructuringat the company’s domestic express business. A meeting is due to be held with Deutsche Postofficials from Bonn on October 18.

DHL Express had already cut some 800 jobs in 2003 following the acquisition and integrationof companies such as Ducros.
