Austrian Post moves into Croatian mail market

Austrian Post has entered the Croatian postal market with the acquisition of a direct marketingcompany. It is already present there in the parcel sector.



Austrian Post has bought 100% in Weber Escal, a company founded in 1994 and specialising innationwide deliveries of unaddressed mail throughout Croatia. Employing some 250 staff, thecompany  delivers some 90 million pieces per year. It claims a 40% share of the Croatiandirect marketing sector, well ahead of Croatia Post, and had revenues of €2 million in 2005. 

After Hungary and Slovakia, Croatia is the third Central and Eastern European market whereAustrian Post is present in the direct marketing sector. It has been active in the country’s parcelmarket through its subsidiary Overseas Trade since 2001.
