Business needs less regulation and lower taxes to promote world trade, US president George Bushsaid on a visit to FedEx on Friday.
“Low taxes, less regulation, rational spending at the government level, opening marketsoverseas so that the entrepreneur can trade,” he told business leaders at a Washington round table.
The US president was talking as a host at an event organised by FedEx for small andmedium-sized industry, which he kindly agreed to attend.
William Logue, FedEx Express vice-president said: “FedEx has long believed in the power ofaccess which enables businesses to extend market reach, support innovation and strengthen growthopportunities.
“Access is even more important for small businesses as they seek to fully prosper in theglobal marketplace.”
Kevin Plank, the president and CEO of FedEx client Under Armour, an athletics wear company,told Bush that express delivery had helped his company transform from a national to aninternational source of sports accessories.
“Having access to the global marketplace has helped Under Armour grow into the internationalperformance leader it is today, allowing athletes from around the world to experience the UnderArmour advantage for themselves,” Plank said.
