TNT Express announced today it had won a five-year, €120 million contract from France’s GeoPost topick up and deliver international express parcels for delivery through its 200-country global
network.The Dutch company is to start the service in late January, coming at a time when it isconsolidating its position in the international express parcels market, said Marie-ChristineLombard, TNT Express managing director.
“TNT is rapidly expanding its network, especially in Asia,” she said. “With acquisitions inChina and India and the entry of two new Boeing 747 aircraft into the fleet to fly daily servicesbetween Europe and Asia as of next year, TNT is extremely well positioned to satisfy GeoPost’sexpectations.”
Last year, GeoPost, the holding company for the parcel and express subsidiaries of France’snational postal service, La Poste, shipped over 450 million parcels for 220,000 customers in 30countries.
