Norway Post is to continue its strongly-driven acquisitions strategy by buying the Dutch logisticscompany, Scanex.
Scanex, which transports part and full loads, has been an agent for Nor-Cargo – which NorwayPost bought in 2004 – on the west coast of Norway and in Oslo since 1991 and the companies togethermake 300 departures a month.
The acquisition will now strengthen Nor-Cargo’s market position in the Netherlands for goodsgoing to and from Norway and the Nordic region, said a statement from Norway Post.
“Scanex is a sound company that Nor-Cargo knows well and has close links with,” commentedArne Bjorndahl, senior vice-president of Norway Post and head of its logistics division.
“This purchase was a natural step in the further development of both parties. Scanex alsogives Nor-Cargo the opportunity to expand the services it offers to customers on the continent.”
Norway Post made a record profit of €177 million last year and operating revenues were up 22%to €5.7 billion in the first quarter of this year, mainly due to acquisitions.
Earlier this year, the company bought international postal distributor OptiMail and agreed topurchase 100% of Holmskau Transport, following on from last year’s logistics sector acquisitions ofFrigoscandia, HSD Transport, EuroDynamic and the Johs Lunde Group’s thermo companies.
