Kerry Logistics expands in Europe

Kerry Logistics, one of Asia’s largest freight transportation groups, is expanding in Europe byopening offices in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Hong Kong-based company, which is also one

of the largest Chinese CEP operators, aims to create a European network over the next few years.

The newly-founded Kerry Logistics GmbH, based in Hamburg, went into business on September 1with eight branches in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Managing director for the three countriesis Michael Dieckmann, an experienced German freight industry manager.

Kerry Logistics said that it aims to open more branches in the German-speaking countries aswell as in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary by 2008. Within the next four years, the companyplans to have a European network with 500 staff in Central and Eastern Europe. Kerry Logisticsalready has seven branches in the UK and Spain. In Asia, Kerry Logistics has 6,000 employees at 260branches, including 4,000 staff in China at 120 locations.

The company’s aim is to provide intercontinental logistics, air and sea freighttransportation services between Asia and Europe, especially for shippers in the retail, consumergoods and electronics sectors along with automotive and machinery industries.
