DHL and Crawford Group extend collaboration

The Swedish Crawford Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of industrialdoors and loading bay equipment, has signed a five year contract for distribution, warehousing and

logistics services with DHL.

Since 2001, Crawford has used the services offered by DHL. Initially, only for the delivery offinished goods to customers in Europe, but over the years Crawford has used more and more of theservices offered by DHL. The new contract, which has a term of five years, includes a whole rangeof services comprising delivery to end customers in all European countries, worldwide distributionof parts, inter company traffic between Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands to handle andstock control at these locations.

The large-scale subcontracting of the logistics activities to DHL follows Crawford´s strategicfocus on its core activities. Claes Hydén, Group Logisitics Manager, commented: “Crawford’s coreactivities include design, production, sale, installation and service of industrial doors and dockloading systems. Distribution, storage and delivery of the finished or half-finished products arenot part of our core activities. We have decided to subcontract these activities to DHL, which wehave been doing business with for many years to the satisfaction of both parties.”

Wouter van Benten, Managing Director DHL Freight Benelux, said: “Our activities for Crawfordprove that DHL is also the right partner for complex and cross-border logistics issues. We are wellequipped to link our various channels and service activities in such a way that the customer gainsfull benefit from the services we offer.” DHL has 25 Dutch-based full time employees dedicated toCrawford and 65 full-time employees internationally.
