All three German road hubs of TNT Express have been certified under the TAPA “A” ranking sincethe start of July. TAPA certifications are considered world-wide as the most important and most
meaningful safety standards in the transportation industry.The road hub in Hanover was the first to receive this certificate in November last year. The twohubs in Wiesbaden and Nuernberg were also successfully audited at the end of June.
“Security is a substantial quality factor of our service and we will continue to develop thisquality criterion with great energy,” stressed Manfred Selinger, leader enterprise security withTNT Express Germany. “Thus, as the next step we will bring all German branches of TNT Express inline in with TAPA C, taking air security regulations into account, to further secure the status of ‘ approved agent’,” he added. TNT Express will also take account of future changes to thecustoms laws (the European Union tariff code) in its security strategy in order to attain thestatus of “Authorised Economic Operator”.
TAPA (Technology Asset Protection Association) is a world-wide association of well-knownmanufacturers of high-tech products. These have established the common goal of developing –together with transport service providers – professional security precautions in order to protecthigh-quality goods against criminal activities along the logistics value chain.
Among other integrators, TNT is a TAPA member and participates together with the manufacturersactively to respond to the changed security situation, constantly adapting to new safetyrequirements.
