TNT Express has opened a new Global Express Centre in Johor Baru, in Malaysia, to expand itsbusiness in that part of south-east Asia.
Built at a cost of €1.3 million, the 2,000 sqm facility was officially opened by the Dutchambassador to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur, Lody Embrechts. The managing director of TNT Malaysia andBrunei, Gerry Power, said the facility was the second of three new facilities to be opened as partof the company’s €3.2 million expansion plan this year.
The company, which has been operating in Malaysia for 30 years, last month launched its AsiaSecurity Command and Control Centre in Petaling Jaya and is planning for further expansion inPenang by the end of this year.
“Johor is fast establishing itself as a logistics hub and TNT has experienced double-digitgrowth from the state over the past five years,” Power said. “The investment in the TNT GlobalExpress Centre will enhance TNT’s offering to customers and provide a solid foundation for thefuture growth and expansion of our business in Johor and other parts of Malaysia.”
