The German private postal operator Pin Group has strengthened its market position and network bythe acquisition of four regional mail firms, CITIPOST, WEST MAIL, ‘Porto Sparen im Norden’ and
Speedy Express. With this expansion, the PIN Group now covers the German postcode areas 0 to 6 andparts of 9 with its own postal delivery network, the group announced.Nine months after its founding in October 2005 by three large German publishing houses and theLuxemburg-based holding company Rosalia, PIN Group declared its ambition to become the number 1under the private German postal services.
CITIPOST operates with more than 1,500 letter carriers and over 200,000 deliveries per day inlarge parts of Lower Saxony and eastern German states.
WEST MAIL extends the network and service area of the PIN Group to the entire Rhineland area,the Lower Rhine and the Bergische region. WEST MAIL, which has delivered more than 11.5 millionmail items since its operational start scarcely one year ago, reaches almost 3.5 million householdsin North Rhine-Westphalia on its own.
With the acquisition of Schleswig Holstein’s largest private letter service, ‘ Porto Sparen imNorden’, PIN Group has strengthened its operational business in northern Germany and the Hamburgregion. Approximately 120 employees deliver up to 35,000 deliveries daily and thus cover apopulation of about one million inhabitants.
Through the acquisition of a majority stake in Speedy Express, PIN Group extended its network inthe region of Berlin and Brandenburg as far as to the Polish border. Speedy Express employs atpresent approximately 190 people, with approx. 50,000 letters per day.
The PIN Group with its subsidiary companies and cooperation partners expects volumes of morethan 400 million deliveries and revenue of €200 million. CEO Guenter Thiel stated: “In the secondhalf of the year we will concentrate now on the south of Germany. We are holding numerousdiscussions with potential partners, and we are regarded as the first address in opening the marketfor letter services.”
