DHL has started construction work on a new €2.5 million site at Amiens in northern France that willintegrate its express, parcels and road freight activities in the region for the first time.
The new facility, due to go into operation in mid-October, occupies a site of 16,660 sqm inthe city’s northern industrial zone. Financed by investor Generali, the 600 sqm building will have41 vehicle docking doors and modern security systems including video surveillance.
DHL said that the new centre would improve its services to the Picardy region through theintegration of express, parcels and freight transport at one site, and enable express and parcelsgrowth in particular.
“By constructing this new-generation branch, which is adapted to the expectations of ourcustomers and our future development plans, DHL is demonstrating its commitment to Picardy and theregion’s economic growth,” commented Stéphane Corthier, managing director of DHL Express France.
