DHL Express has won a two-year contract for the international transport of parcels and documentsof French environmental group Veolia Environnement.
Under the contract, whose value was not disclosed, DHL Express will handle the company’s exportsfrom France to destinations around the world, including customs clearance and real-time shipmenttracking and tracing. The contract has a volume of some 1,000 express parcels per month, with mostshipments destined for Europe, the Americas, Africa, Middle East and Asia. The bulk will be sent asair express.
Sonia Elliot, Veolia Environnement procurement manager, commented: “DHL has been chosen due toits geographical coverage. Thanks to this deal, we can send our documents throughout the entireworld. With DHL we benefit from greater coverage and we can service more customers.” VeoliaEnvironnement generates 45% of its revenues from international activities.
The contract also includes a “sustainable development charta” committing DHL to take account ofenvironmental issues as part of its services.
