United Parcel Service (UPS) and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG)have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), outlining the logistics and express delivery
services UPS will provide for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Xinhua news agencyreported.UPS was selected as the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Sponsor of the Beijing 2008Olympic Games by the Organizing Committee in July 2005. The sponsorship agreement also covers theBeijing 2008 Paralympic Games, the Chinese Olympic Committee, and the Chinese Olympic teams tocompete in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Under the plan outlined in the MOU, UPS will support BOCOG in the development and coordinationof the delivery plans as well as providing the logistics service between all the Olympicvenues.
In addition, UPS will provide express delivery and transportation services in all areasincluding the Olympic Green, the Athlete’s Village and the Press Village. Under the MOU, servicesto be provided will range from movement of time-sensitive film footage and photographic materialsto ticket handling.
”As the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will be the greatest ever, it will require everyonesupporting these games to ‘deliver more’. UPS in honoured to be involved,” said Ken Torok,president of UPS Asia Pacific region.
