TNT plans to hand out PDAs to its entire courier network in Poland in order to further improveits delivery service. The move follows a pilot programme in Warsaw.
TNT Poland currently uses mobile terminals but the PDAs offer more functions, are moreuser-friendly and are physically more resistant to impacts. The PDAs use the INCAB datatransmission system in order to transmit up-to-date information about shipment delivery status intothe company’s central network where it can be used for administrative purposes and customertracking checks. TNT plans to have the PDAs in operation by couriers and in depots by the end ofthis year.
“The reason for the decision of TNT Express to implement PDAs for everyday customer service was,among others, the very broad functionality depending on the communication methods. The devicesoperate both with WiFi technology and GPRS, and the use of special programmes ensures smoothswitching between the two systems,” commented Wojciech Mazur, ICS Manager, TNT Express Poland.
