Target Express extends central England capacity

Target Express

Target Express, one of Britain’s largest independent express carriers, has unveiled plans toextend its capacity in central England.

The firm will open a new 42,000 sq ft depot in Star City, close to Birmingham city centre,increasing its capacity in the city threefold. The carrier is also investing in its existing depotin nearby West Bromwich to further enhance its facilities and capabilities there. The new depot inStar City is due to become fully operational on 30th May, with upgrade work at West Bromwich duefor completion in June.

Petar Cvetkovic, Chief Executive Officer at Target Express commented: “The new Birmingham depotwill accommodate the excellent growth in consignment volumes we are experiencing in the region, aswell as provide capacity to further expand our customer base in the city.”

“The new depot at Star City will include hub sortation facilities which coupled with theimprovements at West Bromwich will further enhance the Target Express network as a whole” headded.

Target Express currently operates 51 depots throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, offeringa comprehensive range of delivery options through its Domestic, International, Marketlink,Solutions, Pallets, Post and Ireland services.

The new depot and the refurbishment at West Bromwich represent the latest investment in anoverall development plan of the Target network. A new depot at Carlisle in north-west England,replacing nearby smaller premises, opened at the end of March, and a new depot in Northamptonopened during April.
