TNT buys Italian mail firm

TNT Post has doubled its presence in the Italian mail market with the acquisition of TWM Italia,an unaddressed bulk mailing company, for an undisclosed sum. TNT Post aims to become the leading

competitor to Poste Italiane in the latter’s home market. 

TWM Italia, set up in 1990, covers mostly the northern regions of Emilia and Eastern Lombardy,with operations offices located in the provinces of Piacenza, Cremona, Lodi, Pavia, Bergamo,Brescia, Parma, Modena, Livorno, Bologna and Bari.

The deal has enabled TNT Post to double its market share in Italy, creating a strong largecompetitor in a sector characterized by extreme fragmentation. There are an estimated 400 playersin a market with an estimated value of €250 million in 2005. TNT Post, headquartered in Milan andwith some 1,600 staff, operates through a network of 30 branches.

In particular, the TWM Italia acquisition broadens TNT Post’s geographical coverage andstrengthens its “door to door” service to its customers. TNT Post already holds a leading positionin addressed mail distribution in Italy and now plans to address companies and organizations of anysize to promote unaddressed or “door to door” distribution as an advertising communicationtool.

Our recent acquisition brings with it the advantage of making our networkof TNT Post certified distributors even more pervasive, assuring nationwide coverage”.

TNT Post’s European Mail Network is present in eight countries: UK, Germany, Italy, Belgium,Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic and The Netherlands.
