German home entertainment hardware manufacturer Loewe has contracted express carrierTrans-o-flex and logistics specialist BI-LOG to handle its distribution in Europe and Germany with
effect from the start of May.Under the re-structuring of the manufacturer’s logistics, BI-LOG will control all the logisticsprocesses, from warehousing to picking and fine distribution through to returns throughoutEurope.
Trans-o-flex, which has developed solutions for especially delicate transport of sensitivegoods, is responsible for the physical transport of the televisions, DVD recorders and hi-fisystems within Germany. The express carrier has been carrying out special contracts for Loewe forabout 15 years, including the return logistics of defective equipment. As of this month,Trans-o-flex is handling on average 400 Loewe shipments per day with a total weight of some 25tonnes and delivering them next day nationwide.
Trans-o-flex said it has developed customised handling procedures to guarantee safe delivery ofthe premium-quality LCD and plasma TVs. For example, a special indicator attached to each shipmentshows carriers and consignees whether or not the shipment has been exposed to undue shocks orstress. Trans-o-flex also carries LCD and plasma TVs for other well-known makers and is consideredthe market leader in this sector.
