TNT has transferred its night express business TNT In-night from the Logistics division to TNTExpress Germany and named a new management team for the business. The move is part of the plan to
dispose of TNT Logistics during 2006.TNT In-night, with nationwide operations in 25 countries, is one of Europe’s leading networksfor the urgent distribution of spare parts and time-critical goods during the night. With more than1,200 staff and 71 branches, the business handles some 93,000 consignments per day. Items arecollected in the afternoon and delivered to customers during the night or before 08:00 the nextmorning.
TNT In-night will in future be part of TNT Express Germany under the management of CEO DonaldPilz. Thomas Kraus had been appointed chairman of TNT In-night Holding GmbH with Mark Fonseca asmanaging director for Back Office Services, TNT Express Germany said in a statement. Bothmanagers would remain part of the overall management of TNT Express Germany.
The reason for the reorganisation of the night express activities was the decision of the TNTboard in December 2005 to focus in future on managing distribution networks and to dispose ofnon-network activities. While most of TNT Logistics is due to be sold by the second half of thisyear, the In-Night business would be retained, TNT Express Germany stated.
