TNT Express Italy has obtained a wide-ranging quality certification from the Det Norske Veritas(DNV) organisation as the first transport group in the country with this award. The integrated
certification covers quality, environment, safety and social responsibility.The award was the culmination of many years of focusing on quality standards, TNT Express Italysaid in a statement. The company has previously gained separate awards for its quality system (ISO9001), its environmental policy (ISO 14001), social responsibility (SA 8000) and health and safetyworking practices (OHSAS 18001).
Christian Drenthen, head of TNT Express Italy, said that the award reflected the company’s focuson continuously improving its performance, and put it ahead of its competitors.
TNT Express Italy has a network of 135 branches, a fleet of 3,400 vehicles and five aircraftserving 11 airports, enabling it to provide 24-hour coverage of the country. The company hadrevenues of €580 million in 2005 and an average of 160,000 consignments per day.
