Parceline, the GeoPost UK subsidiary, said that it has been named as one of the Sunday Times 100Best Companies to work for. The express firm was the only British transport industry company in the
widely-acknowledged list.The Birmingham-based firm came 99th out of 691 organisations that were considered for theprestigious accolade. Under the evaluation process, 500 randomly selected employees wereinterviewed, with questions focusing on eight measures of job satisfaction including leadership,pay and conditions, work-life balance, pride in the organisation and community involvement.
About 75% of the Parceline employees interviewed said they felt that they had a secure future atthe company, that they felt fully involved in the company, that they valued the training and thatthey would strongly recommend the organisation to others as an employer.
The Sunday Times praises Parceline for ‘empowering first-line managers and their teams’ in thepast year. Initiatives include ‘Stars awards’, which can be traded in for gifts and an ideas schemewhere employees are offered the opportunity to shape the organisation. The company also activelyencourages and rewards high performers through its ‘driver of the year award’ and its ‘whatever ittakes’ scheme.
Parceline chief executive officer Kay Phillips said: “Parceline is the only transport company tobe included in this select list. I am very proud of this achievement which recognises the passionand expertise of our people, qualities that are vital in a service industry. Our high scores alsodemonstrate the positive impact made by training and development initiatives and the workundertaken to involve our people in business and community projects.”
In the past three years the firm, which has 4,500 employees nationwide, has also cut absenteeismby 33% whilst staff turnover has been reduced by 11%.
