La Poste has named Alexis Ruset as the new president of Exapaq, the French B2B parcels carrierthat its express parcels division GeoPost acquired earlier this year. Ruset remains a
director-general of GeoPost, a post he has held since 2001.The French postal group announced in February that it had authorised GeoPost to finalise theacquisition of the Exapaq network, which is operated by 15 regional companies. The acquisitionwould reinforce the position of GeoPost as the leading French parcels operator, and wouldcomplement the offerings of express subsidiary Chronopost, it said. Exapaq, which is specialised inbusiness-to-business transport of domestic parcels up to 30kg, carries 32 million parcels a yearand generated revenues of €194 million in 2004. The network covers five national hubs, 52 regionaldepots and 1,800 branches.
