New Zealand Post and DHL Express have sealed a three-year deal with Air New Zealand to provideall domestic and international postal and courier services for the airline group. This is the first
joint solution between New Zealand Post and DHL Express since the formation of their ExpressCouriers Limited joint venture last year. The contract, which takes effect from April 3, 2006,follows a competitive request for proposal process during 2005.New Zealand Post Chief Operating Officer Paul Hutchinson said the deal represented good valuefor all parties concerned and provided real opportunities for future growth. “The New Zealand PostGroup has worked very closely with Air New Zealand to fully understand their needs. By bringing tothe party our relationship with DHL we are providing a more end-to-end solution which will not onlyincrease the service offering to Air New Zealand, but also achieve cost efficiencies for theirbusiness. While the initial deal is worth approximately NZ$4 million, both parties will continue toexplore other opportunities to add further business improvements over time through addedefficiencies and innovation.”
Air New Zealand General Manager Group Procurement, Andrea Gregory, said that the New ZealandPost and DHL solution provided a total package for the company’s domestic and international postaland express freight services. “While the cost savings resulting from this deal are pleasing, webelieve that the relationship will create other opportunities going forward that support ourbusiness goals.”
DHL Express New Zealand General Manager, Derek Andersen, added: “While DHL Express has providedservices to a number of business units within Air New Zealand for some time, as part of our newagreement we will now deliver these services right across their entire business.”
