DHL buys Spanish fashion logistics firm

DHL has bought Disfast, a specialist fashion logistics firm in Spain, and reorganised itslogistics management in the country.

DHL Spain announced that the acquisition of Disfast was completed on December 5, 2005.  Thecompany has estimated revenue of €8 million for 2006, and serves over 200 customers with roughly 50employees. Based near Madrid, Disfast is a small logistics company with a strong presence in theregional fashion industry. Specialized in the distribution of hanging garments mainly in and aroundMadrid, Disfast will be integrated into DHL Exel Supply Chain.

Francisco Bernal, General Manager of DHL Exel Supply Chain said: “Spain’s contract logisticsmarket still holds big potential with considerable growth. DHL is responding to this trend withthis acquisition which will strengthen our position in the domestic market.” Both parties haveagreed not to disclose financial details.

DHL Spain has also announced the new logistics management structure effective since January2006. Francisco Bernal, former head of DHL Solutions in Spain, was named Managing Director for DHLExel Supply Chain, Iberia (Spain and Portugal). Benjamín García, previously managing director forDHL Danzas Air & Ocean, has been named General Manager for DHL Global Forwarding, Iberia (Spainand Portugal).
