DHL has launched its Import Express service in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to target tradeflows from Asia and Europe into Dubai and other emirates. The product launch is the latest stage in
DHL’s growth in the Middle East region. Import Express gives customers control over their importsby enabling them to be ordered and transported from an overseas destination with shipping costspaid for in the customer’s local currency.Announcing the launch, Phil Couchman, regional director, DHL Middle East, said: “With ImportExpress, we further enhance our reputation at DHL as a one-stop-shop. Our customers will now beable to pay in their local currency and track their shipments, all from one point of contact. Thisin turn ensures we provide a simple answer for all our customers’ international shippingrequirements.” David Wild, general manager of DHL UAE, added: “Our mission at DHL is to provide ourcustomers with the superior levels of customer service they provide to their customers. It meansbeing flexible and responsive, taking ownership and working closely as a partner to developsolutions specific to each customer’s needs.”
DHL also highlighted its recent growth initiatives in the region. “The UAE in particular is ofimmense importance to DHL’s business in the region and represents one of the markets primed forsignificant growth. Against this backdrop of growth and a dynamic national economy in the UAE, thedemand for our services at DHL has increased rapidly,” Couchman pointed out.
In February, DHL UAE launched a range of Time Definite Products to provide a completeenhanced regional service. DHL UAE provided the new product portfolio due to an increasing need ofcustomers to have more choice of transit times; from a pre 9AM or pre noon delivery service andnext day express, to second day delivery and express freight for heavyweight shipments. The companywas also the first logistics company in the Middle East to gain the prestigious TAPA ACertification (Technology Asset Protection Association) in recognition of its high securitystandards. Last year saw two new DHL UAE facilities in operation represented by both Abu Dhabi andJebel Ali free zone hubs.
