GLS Germany has opened a new €7 million depot in Brunswick in northern Germany to act as aregional hub. The facility was officially opened on February 4 by Christian Wulff,
minister-president of the German federal state of Lower Saxony, where the city is located. Fiftynew jobs have been created at the site where a total of 130 staff work.The 4,500 sqm logistics centre has capacity for 50,000 parcels per day, making it one of thecompany’s largest depots in Germany. Features include 31 truck and van docking points, a newsorting system and video security.
“With the new depot, we have extended our capacity in northern Germany in a targeted fashion,and further improved service quality,” said GLS Germany managing director Klaus Conrad. The newsite relieves the GLS depots in nearby Kassel and Hanover which are operating at maximum capacitylevels.
