UPS Europe has announced the launch of UPS Mail Logic, its new international mail service. Theservice was started as a pilot programme in the UK last year and will now be rolled out in the
Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France, with additional European markets to follow.Mail Logic is targeted as companies that internationally distribute letters, bulk items suchcatalogues, manuscripts, magazines, newsletters, annual reports, as well as small packages withlow-value goods, small spare parts or product samples. Businesses can simply gather theirinternational letters, flats or packets into one parcel – no sorting by destination, metering orstamping necessary. Customers arrange for UPS pick-up along with any other small packages ready fordelivery. UPS then transports the international mail to well-respected postal service entities thatsort and ship the mail to the destination postal authority or other licensed party for finaldelivery.
“With this service, UPS becomes a single source solutions provider for all shipping needs,”explains Thomas Zeller, Product Portfolio manager, UPS Europe. “Because we can now meet theinternational mailing needs for our customers, as we do for small packages, businesses can bettermanage their post in a way that is reliable, efficient and cost effective.”
With a choice of Priority or Saver delivery options, customers can arrange for items to reachtheir destination within an expected time frame. And because letter sorting and metering arehandled by UPS’s postal partners, businesses save time and money on mailroom processing andinfrastructure.
UPS said it had initiated its Mail Logic pilot programme in January 2005 in the UK, where therealready is a keen awareness of and strong demand for third-party mail delivery services. Theseven-month programme was open to small, medium and large businesses throughout the country andproved a great success among every customer segment.
In Germany, UPS will work with Swiss Post International (SPI), the international mail divisionof Swiss Post. In the UK, it cooperates with the international divisions of the Swedish and BelgianPost.
