Belgian Post will increase letter and parcel prices with effect from February 1, 2006. Theincreases are in line with the 2004-2005 inflation rate of four per cent, the national postal
operator said.The standard domestic stamp price for priority letters weighing up to 50 grams will rise from0.50 euros to 0.52 euros. The equivalent non-priority rate will go up from 0.44 euros to 0.46euros. International mail rates are unchanged. The price for small parcels (up to 2 kg) willincrease from 3.10 euros to 3.70 euros.
Belgian Post said that the price increases were also necessary to restore the financial basis ofthese services, and the new prices were in line with those of similar European postaloperators.
