Blue Dart Express, the DHL-owned Indian express, courier and logistics company, has launched anupgraded version of Mobile DartTM, a unique SMS-based service that enables customers to track their
shipments via SMS from anywhere in the country.This value-added service requires no registration, Blue Dart said. Customers can avail of thisservice by messaging their air waybill number, and an automated response provides the currentstatus of their package. An SMS will also elicit an automated delivery advice once the shipment isdelivered.
Announcing the launch, Malcolm Monteiro, Chief Operating Officer, said: “Blue Dart has, sinceinception, used advanced technology to provide the Indian customer a competitive edge withglobally-benchmarked technology tools developed in-house. The launch of this new SMS based service,as an industry first is another step in this direction. This service provides greater convenienceand control to the customer, keeping in mind his increased mobility and demand for real-timeinformation”. Monteiro will succeed Clyde Cooper as the company’s managing director inmid-March.
