DPD has successfully delivered 17,500 parcels with the new adidas “Teamgeist” World Cup ball tosports retailers in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux. The special time-definite
delivery is part of a recently-awarded two-year distribution contract.During the already busy Christmas season, more than 1,500 German DPD employees pulled togetherfor a special night shift last weekend to make sure the balls were ready to go. On Saturday,December 10, DPD delivered more than 14,500 parcels to 1,700 sporting good retailers in Germany andin the Benelux, Switzerland and Austria with a punctual delivery rate of 99.7 per cent. A further3,000 World Cup football parcels had been delivered on Friday, December 9 to 150 selected sportsshops in Germany.
In November, the German-based sports footwear firm adidas-Salomon AG extended its contract withDPD until end-2007. The contract covers distribution of some 1.5 million adidas parcels withinGermany and to seven Central European countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland,Poland, Hungary and Slovenia).
