DHL flies Christmas trees to US troops in Iraq

DHL has linked up with US military authorities at its new California air base, local businessesand the community to ship Christmas trees and festive decorations to US armed forces stationed in

Iraq.

A shipment of more than 200 Christmas trees, 600 boxes of lights, 400 boxes of ornaments, 200boxes of candy canes and 100 menorahs with candles, as well as holiday cards, departed the MarchAir Reserve Base in California. The shipment will go via Los Angeles and New York to Kuwait wherethe goods will be distributed to Marine units in Iraq that were trained at March Air ReserveBase.

DHL launched its Christmas Trees for Troops initiative in December 2004 with two shipments of135 Christmas trees and other holiday-related items to troops stationed at Camp Anaconda in Iraq.This year, another special DHL shipment of 1,000 trees, heading to US troops in Afghanistan,Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq, was shipped out of JFK on December 6th.
