Post Austria and German parcel carrier Trans-o-flex have signed a cooperation deal coveringEuropean distribution. No details of a financial transaction were announced, however.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Post Austria director general Anton Wais, the Austrianpost office’s parcels logistics manger Hans Bauman, and Trans-o-flex board spokesman Klaus Heinzafter successful negotiations. Post Austria had reportedly been interested in buying the companyunder its European expansion strategy.
Under the agreement, effective from next year, Post Austria will join the Trans-o-flex Eurodisnetwork, providing parcel delivery services in Austria and various south-eastern European countrieswhere it has subsidiaries. In return, Trans-o-flex will distribute the Austrian post office’sparcels in Germany. The Eurodis network, for which Trans-o-flex recently named a new managingdirector, currently covers 19 countries through a range of partnership agreements.
“This cooperation is an important step for us in building up a new business model in the area ofspecial logistics. Moreover, together with our partner Trans-o-flex we can strengthen and extendthe market position of our subsidiaries in south-east Europe,” commented Anton Wais.
Post Austria sold its minority stake in DPD Austria earlier this year with the aim of developingits own B2B network. Through the Trans-o-flex deal, Post Austria has access to an alternativeEuropean network.
