TNT Express has flown large quantities of food supplies to northern Pakistan on behalf of theWorld Food Programme (WFP) following the massive earthquake in the region. TNT has been a logistics
partner for the WFP since 2003.The WFP aid team trucked about 30 tonnes of aid goods to the town of Muzaffarabad, which wasbadly hit by the quake. About 12,000 people were supplied with food for two days through theemergency action. The WFP trucks had to drive through difficult terrain, damaged roads and paststreams of refugees to reach the town, a TNT statement said. The supplies had earlier beentransported on two flights from the WFP base in Brindisi, Italy, to Islamabad. TNT Express was incharge of the second flight with 33 tonnes of supplies.
